‘Breathers’ and ‘Army of the Dead’ In Development

Pajiba recently announced that the film adaptation of S. G. Browne’s novel, Breathers: A Zombie’s Lament, is moving forward.  Scarlett Johansson and Joseph Gordon-Levitt are now loosely attached to star in the film and Diablo Cody (screenwriter for Juno) is producing.  Breathers: A Zombie’s Lament is a love story about two zombies who are discriminated against in a world where the undead don’t share the same rights as the living.

Zack Snyder, director of 2004’s Dawn of the Dead, has mentioned his desire to return to zombie cinema on multiple occasions, and it now looks like production may be moving forward on his future zombie epic,  Army of the Dead. The recently updated website for Snyder’s production company lists Army of the Dead as being “in development.”  Snyder has stated that Army of the Dead will take place in post-zombie apocalypse Las Vegas.
