Architects Southwest has announced the winners of their 2011 Zombie Safe House Competition. A mobile, armadillo-like shell designed by Austin Fleming was this year’s first place winner. The annual competition asks its participants to design the perfect zombie apocalypse fortress. The designers have to consider food, power, waste, weapons, storage, evacuation, and (most importantly) how to keep zombies out of their houses. The judges panel included a number of individuals involved in the architecture and/or zombie field including last year’s first place winner and Max Brooks, author of The Zombie Survival Guide.
