The UK zombie film Cockneys vs. Zombies is making its North American debut at the Fantastic Fest film festival in Austin, Texas. Fantastic Fest starts today, September 20th, and runs through the 27th. Cockneys vs. Zombies will play on September 24th and 27th. The film’s director, Matthias Hoene, and writer, James Moran, will be in attendance at the screenings. Cockneys vs. Zombies tells the story of a team of amateur bank robbers and their battle for survival against an army of the undead in East London. Cockneys vs. Zombies is currently playing in UK cinemas and will be released on DVD and Blu-ray in the UK on October 22, 2012. Lionsgate Home Entertainment has acquired the North American distribution rights for Night of the Living Dead: Resurrection. The UK zombie film is a re-imagining of George A. Romero’s Night of the Living Dead–taking place in a Welsh farmhouse rather than rural Pennsylvania. Night of the Living Dead: Resurrection is directed by filmmaker James Plumb of Mad Science Films (Silent Night, Bloody Night) and stars Sule Rimi (Panic Button) as Ben. Synopsis: In 2012 the deceased have risen from their graves with only one instinct: to feed on the living. The post-civil war era zombie film, Exit Humanity, is now available on DVD, Blu-ray, and video on demand. The movie was written and directed by John Geddes, stars Mark Gibson, and is narrated by Brian Cox. Exit Humanity is the story of a man (Gibson) who is trying to lay his son’s ashes to rest in the midst of a zombie outbreak. The film takes place in the 1870’s in Tennessee.

Sony Pictures has released the first full theatrical trailer for Resident Evil: Retribution, the fifth Resident Evil film. In the movie Milla Jovovich returns as the heroine, Alice, and she is joined by a large number of cast members who have appeared in previous installments of the series–Michelle Rodriguez as Rain Ocampo, Sienna Guillory as Jill Valentine, Oded Fehr as Carlos Olivera, Boris Kodjoe as Luther West, Colin Salmon as James “One” Shade, and Shawn Roberts as Albert Wesker. The cast also includes Johann Urb as Leon S. Kennedy and Bingbing Li as Ada Wong. The Paul W.S. Anderson film hits theaters in 3D on September 14, 2012.

The Cuban zombie film, Juan of the Dead, is getting a US video release! According to Focus Features’ official website, the distributor will release Juan of the Dead on August 14, 2012. The film will be available on iTunes, video on demand, and DVD.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Paramount has moved World War Z from its holiday release to June 21, 2013. The zombie-apocalypse film stars Brad Pitt as a United Nations employee who travels the world trying to find a way to stop the undead pandemic from destroying humanity. Marc Forster is directing.
